Can Humans Dream of a Utopian Future: Part II
Wednesday, 8 July 2026 · 17:00 – 19:00
Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham Contemporary
About this event
A live AI performance exploring agency, autonomy, and human–machine creativity through collective prompting and improvisation.
Building on Utopian Futures Part 1, presented by the COLLECTIVE. at Nottingham Central Library in February 2025, this new iteration expands the project into a larger live audio-visual experiment shaped directly by audience participation.
Artists, technologists, performers, and AI practitioners respond in real time to audience-submitted prompts, fragments, questions, and provocations. Nothing is pre-scripted and nothing is fully predictable.
Using generative AI tools, spoken word, live visuals, sound, coding, and analogue intervention, audience input will evolve into speculative worlds. Some responses will be AI-generated, others entirely human, and many will exist somewhere in between.
Vibe-coded, improvisational, and intentionally meta, Can Humans Dream of Utopian Futures? Part 2 uses AI to critically reflect on AI itself — inviting audiences into a collaborative experiment in authorship, imagination, and plural digital futures.
We will follow this event with our end-of-year celebration social - please book onto this separately.
